"Great Expectations" is another extraordinary creation by the masterful Painted Ponies artist Janee Hughes, who shows us once again how versatile the canvas of a horse can be for creative expression. With this Pony she pays homage to promising foals - those gangly-legged horse babies who just may fulfill the hopes and dreams of their owners and grow up to be champion racehorses. On the side of her Pony she paints the foal in three lively poses with the shadow of a jockey-mounted racehorse in the background, and gives the entire scene energy with a fluttering blue ribbon.

Janee is an artist from the Pacific Northwest who also writes and illustrates children's books... when she is not restoring carousel horses. A prolific painter, she has had a number of her designs translated into popular collectible figurines.
